Berks County
The Greater Reading region is also known as Berks County and has a total population over 408,000. Greater Reading is a stand-alone Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) and is conveniently located in southeastern Pennsylvania near major East Coast cities and transportation corridors. Berks County is known for its rich history, culture, and beautiful countryside.
Berks County is governed by three elected at-large commissioners who serve four-year terms. The Commissioners serve as the chief governing body of the County and perform the executive and legislative functions of county government. 
The Community Development Department handles the administration of federal, state, and local grant programs.
The Planning Commission addresses a variety of issues such as transportation, the comprehensive plan, multi-municipal planning, GIS and maps, and demographics and statistics.
